Lisbon/Portugal in December

Hello everyone,

I am thinking of traveling to Portugal around December 23 to NYE. I don’t mind it being cool or the short days. Just concerned about rain and gloominess. Any thoughts? Thanks!

My son and I went to Portugal 12-30-17 thru 1-5-18, visiting Porto and Lisbon. The weather in Porto was gloomy the two days we were there, but Lisbon was nice most of our five days there. Obviously weather is unpredictable, but my guess is that Portugal has some of the best weather in Europe at that time (along with Greece and southern Italy). The below link will provide you wether averages for each month for major US cities: https://www.weatherbase.com/weather/weather.php3?s=63580&cityname=Lisbon-Portugal

BTW - we really enjoyed both Porto and Lisbon and highly recommend them both (very different cities).

Safe travels

During that time of the year, we get rain and gloom but also warm days with bright sunshine. The skies are more clear in the winter and most of the tourists (except the Spanish) are gone.
Just bear in mind that most everything will be closed on 25 December.
