Lisbon places to stay

4-5 nights in Lisbon in late June. Any recs on great spots to stay that won't break the bank? We prefer breakfast included and quaint and small over larger hotels.

I'm not familiar with AirB&B's, but I have rented apartments in Lisbon for short term (5-10 days). Most recently, in the Chiado District (on Rua du Duque - near Rossio Square) in October - a five night rental for approximately $85/night including cleaning deposit. Most similar rentals in this area are on upper floors (3rd - 5th) and most do not have elevators. Add that to the "hilly landscape" of Lisbon, and uphill & downhill become part of the adventure. Although breakfast was not included, many apartments have functional kitchens (some with dishwashers and washing machines). Our most recent location was a five minute walk to a very nice supermarket (Lisbon style). My search for these rentals began with Trivago.
Another post on this forum asked about Internacional Design Hotel (and, as of this writing, has received no replies). I have not been there, but I looked at their website....it looks promising.

I stayed at Brown’s Boutique Hotel in Lisbon and loved it. A small hotel offering breakfast in room price. Large comfortable room. It is super convenient to Baixa Metro Station, easy walk to trams, buses and Praça Dom Pedro and Praça do Commercio.

As we noted in a review on another site, we stayed the first four nights of our 18-day visit to Portugal at the Casa do Barao and absolutely loved it. The location, the beautifully renovated home with spacious rooms, the delicious breakfasts, the food/coffee/port available all day, the outdoor courtyard where you can eat among lemon trees, were wonderful. But what really made this a top-notch experience were cousins Roberto and Sara, who manage the guesthouse. We had a good idea coming to Lisbon what we wanted to see during the day, but Roberto and Sara helped us find good cafes and restaurants, a non-touristy place to listen to Fado, and much more that really enhanced our visit. Not sure if we'll ever get back to Lisbon, but if we do, we wouldn't consider staying anywhere else.

We chose Hotel Riverside Alfama for our October stay and were very pleased. It’s a small, newly renovated, family owned and operated hotel, breakfast and excellent concierge services Are included. The owner was there most of the day, with his wife in the attached tile store. They were so helpful and welcoming! We liked the location near the base of the Alfama, close to Praça do Comercio, and close to buses, trams, and metro.
