Looking for neighborhood recommendations for Lisbon for 2-3 nights AirBNB rental. Bike friendliness, public transport and local residential color would be nice.

Baixa, Chiado, Barrio Alta. Bike? Lisbon has steep hills similar to San Francisco. There are Elevadores( lifts) and Funiculars but do not know if bikes are allowed on them.

I see few bikes in the main tourist areas due to the hills and traffic congestion. And, I’ve never seen a bike on any of the funiculars or elevators and can’t imagine them being allowed due to the congestion.
If you go out a bit, bikes would be more doable. Possibly Belem? And much further out in Carcavelos and Cascais there are lots of bike paths and bikes.
In such a short stay, I would encourage you to use public transport rather than bikes and stay in Chiado or Alfama (for a bit more local color). But, Lisbon has become such a big tourist destination, a lot of the locals have moved out of Alfama.
