Lisbon Neighborhood Recommendations

Looking for suggestions for the neighborhood in Lisbon that we should consider hunkering down in. We plan to spend about 4 nights in Lisbon. Since we will be taking a couple of day trips easy access to public transportation would be ideal. We usually preferring staying in neighborhoods that are not overrun with tourists and tourists traps. We tend to go to bed earlier and are light sleepers so we would want to avoid the areas that are considered “good for nightlife.”

Besides access to transportation we like to be able to easily walk to good food and cafes.

I’ve consulted a couple of guide books but are looking for ideas from fellow travelers who’ve visited Lisbon. We’ll be there in October.

Rossio, Baixa and (possibly Cais do Sodré) would be good options. All have good transport connections to metro and train.

Princepe Real without a doubt. Like a little village of its own and close to anywhere you would want to visit. It has its own butcher, fish monger, market, restaurants and drinks spots.
