Just a reminder if you'll be in Lisbon the weekend of October 7-8. The Lisbon Marathon is on Sunday, October 8, starting at 8:00 am. The course begins in Cascais and ends at the Praça do Comercio. It runs along the waterfront most of the way, including the busy Belem area. Record time for the course is just over two hours and the cutoff time for runners is six hours. Plan accordingly!

We were in Lisbon for the Marathon one year. Belem was crazy but navigable.

When planning my Portugal trip this time, I noted the marathon was going to take place while I was there so, I am heading out of Lisbon to Obidos to begin my slow coastal trip, ending in Porto and then the Douro. Hoping my exit out of Lisbon is uneventful. Planning either train or bus to Obidos.

I was in Lisbon during the 2022 marathon. I spent the day up in the Baixa and barely knew the event was happening until I chatted during lunch with an Irish runner who had just beaten his own personal record.
