Lisbon itinerary-will this work

Hi all,

Anyone who has been to Lisbon...will this work? (I'm concerned about the side trips taking too long but am traveling with someone that thinks it will) Also am I missing any must do's (no art museums and Castle).

Day 1: Arrive in Lisbon around 2pm-airport (probably wont arrive to hotel until 5-6)
Alfama walk , 28 tram ride & Dinner

Day 2: Sintra- 9am-4 pm then drive to Fatima (1.5hrs)
Fatima- arrive around 6pm-it will be on 13th (sept) then go back to lisbon around 9pm
(total driving time for the day is 3.5 hrs + traffic)

Day 3: AM-Belem District (Belem tower, Jeronimos Monestary, Monument to Discoveries)
PM-Santa Justa Elevator and Arco da rua Augusta

Day 4: Market (saturday) morning then daytrip to Evora
Evening: Fado Dinner

thanks!
Sherry

With such a short trip, I would skip Fatima. It will be a lot of driving and necessitate renting a car. Everything else you mention is easily doable by train. A car is a pain in Sintra and as they have just banned cars in the central area, driving and parking will be even more of a challenge than it was previously.

And, a day trip to Evora needs an early start. I would not pair that with a market visit.

Not visiting the castle isn’t a big issue IMO, but you don’t mention Chiado or Bairro Alto - which are worth your time. A big part of enjoying Lisbon IMO is having long lunches or stops for coffee (or wine) on one of the miradouros and just enjoying the ambiance. With the schedule you have, you really shortchange Lisbon by rushing to too many places out of the city.

thank you...
We adjusted our plans to only do Sintra and spend the rest exploring Lisbon.

I'd go to Belem in the late morning or early afternoon if there are cruise ships in town (you can check at http://ports.cruisett.com/)

We were there a couple of weeks ago and the lines for entry at the Monastery and the Belem Tower were very long. We visited the Discovery Monument, strolled to the tower and back and then had lunch. When we returned at 1:30 the lines were short and the crowds were pretty much gone, making for a much more enjoyable visit.
