Lisbon in Transit

We have a layover in Lisbon returning home to the United States. We arrive at the airport at 11 pm and would like to get a quick tour of the city. Any recommendations on how we can do this. We figured we'd stay overnight at the airport and then take an Uber to the city.

What time is your outbound flight from Lisbon?

Cristina Duarte and her team operate "Lisbon and Beyond", a tour company of note. Cristina is a RS tour guide and Pedro minds the store when she is leading a RS tour. They come highly recommended. We have contracted with them in mid October for a day tour of Lisbon, but I can say, based on our lengthy conversations at the annual RS "Test Drive a Tour Guide" expo in Edmonds, Washington - this is a charming and dedicated outfit. Here's their site: http://www.lisbonbeyond.pt/about-us.html.

Cristina is the featured guide in the most recent RS "Lisbon" episode, available to watch right here on this site:

The general wisdom is one should be at the airport 3 hrs prior to international flight departure. For a flight leaving at 1PM, that means be at airport at 10AM.

You have really limited time. Hopefully someone has some ideas for "3 hour tour"( and does not end up with you being stranded on an island :-) )

I know it's very few hours but I figured taking a Uber drive through the city might be doable. Any thoughts on this idea?

The metro is the fastest way to get to the city and it's a lot cheaper than alternatives. Check to see how early it starts. You could take it into the city very early and wander on your own before connecting with a guide for a couple hours.

I don't know how you'd order an Uber for a driving tour. One issue I had with Uber was that meeting points were sometimes odd and hard to find.
