Once a year my adult daughter takes a trip with me . This year we are taking her 12 year old son. Both are very athletic I am a good walker but will not hike. We are looking to stay maybe 9 days. She and her son love to hike ,they like art and also the ocean. I travel the world to see culture and visit museums around the globe. What kinda place would you suggest we should see and go? Open to switching rentals once . We can rent a car or take the train. We are flying into Lisbon out of Boston first. Thanks for any insights !
Sintra might appeal to everyone. It’s a beautiful hike down from the Peña Palace.
I agree that Sintra is a good choice. I have hiked to and from the Moorish Castle on two different occasions, and it's very pleasant.
Me three for Sintra. Maybe you can take the bus or Bolt up to the Moorish Castle (a 12 year old boy may love it), while they can hike up.
For Sintra, here's a link to an itinerary by foot to get an idea of possibilities. There are two different paths for walking to Pena/Moorish Castle. Villa Sassetti trail, great views on wooded path, or Santa Maria trail, mostly on a road.
