Hello,
I am in the process of making hotel reservations in Lisbon for September and am clearly a bit late to do so! I have reviewed the RS book and many of your posts seeking the right fit for us. I have an unusual situation in which I have one night in Lisbon upon arrival, and then 3 nights after visiting Porto-so need two reservations.
I was basically ready to go with either Brown's Downtown (recommended a lot here) or the Internacional Design Hotel (recommended in RS book.) However, just listened to a podcast that said that Baixa is very touristy and this couple recommends something on/near Avenida de Liberdade.
My husband in particular enjoys luxury, I would like something with character in a walkable/accessible area.
Does anyone have any thoughts to add?
Thank you! I appreciate everyone's generosity.
On my last trip to Lisbon in 2023, I did a similar itinerary with a few nights in Lisbon, 4 nights in Porto, and a few more night in Lisbon. I stayed at two different hotels near Avenida de Liberdade. The Britania Hotel was my favorite. It was very art deco and charming. I also stayed at the Heritage Avenida Liberdade Hotel, which was very nice as well. It felt a little more modern. I think both hotels are owned by the same company. If given the chance, I would stay at either hotel again.
I haven't stayed in Avenida De Liberdade, but I have heard it's an area that many like staying. It's on the metro line, so it would be easy to get around, so not a bad choice. It is a more high end, modern area, so if you're into luxury and shopping it is a good location. I personally like the Baixa-Chiado area since it's in the middle of everything and more lively, Each neighborhood has its own vibe.
Thank you!!
