Lisbon Fado restaurant in Rick Steves "Lisbon & the Algarve"

Greeting!

Does anyone know which Fado restaurant is featured in Rick Steves program "Lisbon and the Algarve"?

In addtion to this restaurant, can you recommend any other very authentic places to listen to Fado music? I've checked "Tasca Do Chico". Since we'll be a group of about 15 people, they said that we can reserve but we'd need to preorder a set menu. I am glad that it's possible to reserve as I don't want to worrry about not being able to get tables since we are coming as a big group. However, the reviews say the food is not as great as the music.

wanted to get some ideas or comments as to where would be a nice place to hear Fado Lisbon.

Thank you!
Anna

Blue439, thanks so much. I wish my ladies spoke English because it would make it much easier to find a guide. Since we need a Japanese speaking guide, the one recomended by Rick Steves won't work ;))

Anna - try Cristina Duarte anyway. If there is a Japanese speaking tour guide in Lisbon - Cristina will know.

Laura, thank you for the links. Compared to the interiors of the place in Rick Steve's video. Does not look like those are the places. however, I just realised that that video is actually from 2004! So a lot could have happened. Maybe i should just try to find a great fado place even if it was not featured in Rick Steves vedeos ;))

I don't know if this is the one, but we really enjoyed it. It was a couple of blocks from the apartment we rented in the Alfama. The food and the music are great. The place is quite small, so if your group is very large, there won't be enough room.

The website is a little clunky, but there's lots of English if you're patient. Scroll down the opening page for an English translation of the Portuguese there. Click on the "hamburger menu" and most of the info there is in English.

Sr. Fado de Alfama.
