Lisbon

We are in Lisbon now.
1) The Elevator de Santa Justa is temporarily closed. Use the funiculars. We used the da Gloria.

2) We took the ferry across to Cristo Rei Statue. The book is wrong regarding the bus to take from the ferry to the statue. The correct bus is #3001. You have to pay the bus driver cash since the Lisbon transportation card is not accepted on the other side of the river. 1.25 euro each way per person.
We learned the hard way. Hope this information helps others. Happy travels.

Timed entry tickets for St. Jerome Monastery seem to be meaningless. We purchased tickets for 11:30, and were told to wait in the long entry line when we arrived at 11:00. We didn’t get in until 12:30, a wait of 1.5-hours! When I said ‘timed entry tickets don’t mean anything’ to a guard at the entry he agreed. It did seem that we were there at the busiest time of day. By 3:00pm it looked like the wait would have been less than an hour. This was late October and overall Lisbon was full of tourists. Wait for trolley 28 at Praça Figueres were massive, probably over an hour wait.
