Lisbon cafes, restaurants etc

We will be in Lisbon for 1 week 28/10-3/11. Hoping the weather is good and we can dine outside. We were in Spain last year in November and ate all our meals out doors. That being said I would love recommendations for cafes, and casual dining. Also for amazing pastries that I have heard about. One last thing. We always visit roof top bars when we travel.. would anyone have any suggests. Thank you

Cheryl - I visited this rooftop bar while i was in Lisbon early this year. It's an excellent location and has panoramic views of the city. Consider taking a trip there. The bar is located on the roof of Hotel Mundial.

check out Ponto Final, across the river. You take a little commuter ferry, then once disembarked, turn right and walk along the river for about 15 minutes. Best meal we had in Lisbon! We found this place on an episode of Somebody Feed Phil on Netflix and decided to find the restaurant based on the spectacular setting! Easy to do by public transit and combine with a visit to the Christo Rei monument.

Two of our favourite restaurants are Clara em castelo , and Le Petit Cafe: both in the Alfama or Castel areas

Someone mentioned Pasteis de Belem. While the pastel da Natas are very good, there are options in Lisbon that are excellent and I like them a bit better. Manteigaria has at least two locations - one in Chiado and one at the Time Out Market. Their Natas are wonderful!

The LX Factory has a great roof top bar with views of the 25 Abril bridge and Tejo. If you google Miradouros Lisbon, you will find a number of very lovely viewpoints. A lot of them have a bar or restaurant. Or one close by. In the back of the Carmo Convent there are a couple of restaurants/bars with great views.

Hi from Wisconsin,
When I want a truly great meal I go to France. Here is why: at lunch the place will serve great food and the customers will include street repair people. Real French people. In other countries when I go to a place with fancy food, it is the upper class and mostly tourists. I understand a desire to have a restaurant with a great view, it makes good Facebook. And maybe that is the purpose of some trips.

In Portugal I was looking for good food served to locals. Let me recommend two places, one of which is in a more touristy place than I would have expected. Heck, the waiter actually spoke English. The lesser tourist location is North east of Rossio Square and is called Verde Minho. Most reviews are 5 or 5. Order the sea bass and some wine by the carafe. About 10 Euros, maybe a bit more. But it is authentic Portuguese. The bass is very good. Try a real place that is safe, a bit out of the bright lights.

The other is on the upward/downward walk on Poco da Cidade is called Cocheira Alentejana. Portuguese food, probably for tourists in a basic setting. What I ate I had also eaten in rural Portugal. Try the traditional soup for a starter; garlic, raw egg, and cilantro. So extra good! A recipe from the great depression. The Tripadviser reviews seem to be either 1 or 5. Many of the 1 scores are by people with few reviews, while the 5s come from people with many reviews.

And a cafe to see and experience is Pastelaria Padaria Sao Roque. What an amazing place. We were there several times, the building is stunning. Too bad for all the posters. Customers included students, workers with coveralls covered with plaster, and tourists. A bit out of the normal tourist area but well worth the stroll.

Enjoy Lisbon,
