Lisbon/Barcelona/Southern France 5/17-5/31/18

Hi Everyone,
The planning begins
Had a great experience planning and executing a trip to Milan/Lake region and Austria last October here.Everyone was so knowledgeable and so helpful. So I will try it again! This is my skeleton beginning plan . Have a friend withing an hours drive from Lisbon who's place we can stay at,so kinda have that part taken care of .Was hoping my wife and I and 2 adult children ages 26 and 22 would also be able to make a stop in Barcelona then make our way into the South of France for a bit.. Provence ,Aix en Provence ,Nice.. So its the Barcelona/ South of France region I need assistance with. Am flexible at this point of this rough sketch..dosent have to be Barcelona.. could be San Sebastian etc.. I'm open for suggestions .Thank you!

Looks like you have 14 days. Do those include arrival and departure? Subtract time for that. Will you be taking the train between destinations? Subtract time for that. From where does your return flight depart? Nice? How long are you staying near Lisbon? Once these are answered (for yourself and us), the itinerary can start to take shape...

Ground transportation links between Portugal and Spain are limited. That's going to be a challenge. And from the Basque Country to Provence you've got another sticky situation, I think. Even Barcelona to Aix-en-Brovence is 6 hr. 20 min. by train.

Is May 17 the day you leave the US or the day you land in Lisbon? Is May 31 the day you fly home from Nice?

How many days do you plan to stay with your friends? Lisbon is worth several days even if you aren't commuting in from an hour away, and then there's Sintra. Are there other things you plan to see in Portugal?

Neither the Basque Country nor Barcelona would be a 2-day stopover for me, so I think your time is going to be rather tight.
