Lisbon - Bairro do Castelo neighborhood

We are staying in Lisbon for 6 nights in January - family of 5, first visit to Portugal, kids all young adults. I'm considering booking an airbnb in the Bairro do Castelo neighborhood from which we will explore Lisbon and take several day trips. Anyone have experience staying in this neighborhood and have any concerns/suggestions, etc.?

It's a very old historic neighborhood with some narrow cobblestone streets.
The drawback for me is that it's on one of Lisbon hills but on plus side it has great views of the city ( depending on location).
Also there's no Metro station near it.
