I am planning a trip to Lisbon for October of 2020 and can’t decide which area to stay in. I’m thinking Baixa. Central location is most important - will only be staying 2 nights. Cafes and ambience are secondary.
Which area do you guys think is best?

Baixa or Chiado are good areas to stay. Baixa is flat if you don’t want to deal with hills every time you walk out the door. But, the restaurants are not as good as in Chiado. But, Chiado is quite hilly.
The two areas are connected by the Baixa Chiado metro station so it’s easy to go between the two.
I stayed in Baixa my first trip to Lisbon and was happy with the area.
We enjoyed our 4 night stay at Hotel Lisboa Plaza. Location is central just off of Avenida da Liberdade and short walking distance to Baixa and numerous sights. The rooms are well appointed.
