We are staying in an apartment I found on tripadvisor in Lisbon. We booked most of our apartments throughout Spain from this site. We are traveling mostly in Spain and ending in Portugal. The owner in Lisbon asked for our passport information, birth place, date and such. Is this normal? The apartments in Spain did not ask for any information like this.

It is generally a common practice to be asked for your passport and to fill out a registration form in Hotels, and places where you stay. Some do not, but do not be alarmed when they do.

Yes it's normal. They may even make a copy of your passport upon arrival.

Thank you for your quick response.
I knew they might ask for it when we arrive but they want all the information ahead of time. This is where I am a little confused.
