I’ll be traveling with my sister to Lisbon, Portugal summer 2023, probably in June and hope to stay at least two weeks. It will be my 3rd visit, her 1st, to this wonderful country. While she does day trips for hiking & first-time visitor sightseeing, I plan to just enjoy leisure time in and around Lisbon. After my first two visits staying in Lisbon hotels, this time I’d like to get a small apartment in a safe, convenient, friendly neighborhood. Any suggestions from travelers who’ve done something this in the past?

You might consider Avenida Novas. Perhaps around Saldanha or the area between there and the Gulbenkian. It is much less impacted by tourism, has a nice combination of cafes, restaurants, bakeries, parks, residential and commercial buildings. Good public transportation for travel within the city and out. Minutes away from historic sites via metro.
