We will be going to Lisbon and Seville in May for the first time. We are looking for hotel/bed and breakfast recommendations for both; any suggestions on which area of each city is best to stay would be much appreciated.
Also, recommendations on favorite restaurants, cafe's, something we shouldn't miss doing/seeing, etc. would be greatly appreciated as well. Thank you!
When we were in Lisbon last year we stayed at the Alma Lusa (https://www.almalusahotels.com/baixachiado/?gad_source=6&gclid=EAIaIQobChMInYfPyK2whAMVoQ-tBh08rg0-EBAYASAAEgKR1fD_BwE), which is just up from the Praça do Comércio on a cute square called Praça do Municipio. When we were there we also took a GREAT food tour from Eating Europe (https://www.eatingeurope.com/lisbon/undiscovered-lisbon-food-tour/). One restaurant we loved was called Mini Bar (https://www.minibar.pt/en/). It's like a speak easy meets fine dining. A bit expensive, especially for Portugal, but it was our anniversary so was a splurge.
I chose to stay in the Baxia neighborhood of Lisbon because I have some mobility issues and this is one of the flatter neighborhoods. Lisbon is very hilly.
It is a very convenient neighborhood. I stayed at a three star hotel, Be Poet Baxia and can highly recommend it. Great Location. Great Staff. Very good breakfast.
Loved Lisbon. Four nights was not enough. You want to try to fit in Sintra and Belem if possible.
Last May we stayed in Seville, at the Hotel Casa Palacio Santiago 15 and loved it. Helpful staff, great location - out of the touristy area but very walkable. Good restaurants nearby. Our favorites were Cerveceria Salmadera - excellent paella, and Taberna Coloniales not far from the hotel. Everywhere we went, taxi drivers were the best source for restaurant recommendations. Haven't been to Lisbon yet.
