Lisbon airport travel into town

I am looking for suggestions to get from the Lisbon Airport into the Rossio area, where our hotel will be. The subway seems to have a transfer. Is there a transit bus, or have people used taxis? Thanks.

Take a Taxi, or better yet, if you will have a phone with Data when you arrive, take an Uber.

A taxi will only be about 10 euro, the airport is close to town, it is quick and cheap. We had a phone and used Uber, not only for the airport, but for any longer trip that could not be walked, or had a direct public transport. For two or better three or four, Taxi/Uber can be cheaper than the bus or metro.

With one piece of rolling luggage, the metro from the airport is very easy. Some of the stations you pass have colorful tile murals. It is an easy introduction to the metro system. It is one way to make up a tiny bit for your carbon footprint after an international flight if that is a concern. But taxi and uber are also good options especially if you have more luggage or are traveling with several people.

I agree with all the other posters. Taxis and Uber’s are cheap and easy. But, the metro is, too.

There is one additional piece of information the others didn’t include. You don’t say when you are coming, but the current restrictions for Covid include no more than two people in an Uber. Some taxis will take three but they aren’t really supposed to do so. So, if your trip is imminent, be aware of this detail

Also, if you are lucky enough be from someplace that’s actually allowed to travel here now, Lisbon is pretty wonderful with no crowds!

Thanks, everyone for your confirmation of what I was thinking. We are seventyish in age and while fit, lugging suitcases can be a trial. Don't have a date yet for our visit because of the virus, but hopefully in the new year. Thanks again to all

In June 2019, I took the Aerobus from the airport into town. Oddly, I was the only person on it the whole trip to the stop for my hotel. I think it's a good option that seems to be rarely mentioned.

The link is here: Aerobus.
Scroll down the page and you will see the main stops, including Rossio.

I actually bought my ticket on the bus. I was 73 in the summer of 2019 and I travel light. I had an international size 2-wheeled rolling carry-on and a cross-body tote. If you have a lot of luggage, it may not be the best option for you. Like any bus, there are a couple of steps to go up and down to get in and out.

I'd been to Lisbon before and had taken taxis back and forth. I'd also explored most of the metro with a pass for fun.

The Aerobus runs every 20 minutes. I was in no rush and enjoyed the 30 minute above ground route it took on the way to my stop.
