I need guidance, please, for public transportation from the Lisbon airport to Sintra. It seems one can take a train to Rossio station, then transfer to Sintra. Is there a more direct route?
And for buying tickets: Does one need to buy some kind of card and then load it with funds for tickets?
Thanks for your help!
No need to go to Rossio: there are trains to Sintra from Oriente (every 30 minutes or so, at least on a weekday), which is very quickly accessed by metro from the airport.,
And for buying tickets: Does one need to buy some kind of card and then load it with funds for tickets?
You don’t need to buy a card but it’s convenient to have one, and that way you don’t need to keep buying tickets.
My daughter and I bought the Viva Viagem cards (green) at the airport before taking the Metro to Oriente station, and then the train to/from Sintra. We also used it to pay for the train to/from Cascais and for the tram to Belém.
Wishing you a wonderful trip!
Thanks so much for these helpful details!
