Lisbon Airport Rental Car (January): Too Cheap to Be True?

I was just researching a January trip to Portugal, looking into the price of renting an automatic transmission compact car for 10 days. On Budget's rental car site, the initial total was $142 and then with $103 in taxes the grand total for 10 days came to $245. This seems incredibly cheap to me... does this sound correct to people? It seems too good to be true. (This is with none of the added extra insurances... I have the collision damage waiver through my credit card.)

Likely true. I rented a car in January three years ago and it was €103 for a week.

Check Auto Europe, it’s what I always use and have always been pleased. I think I got the recommendation years ago from RS.

My current rental in Spain for 22 days was 475€ so the price you mentioned is in line. It’s through Enterprise and a compact SUV. Rental prices change almost daily so lock it in while it’s low. With free cancellation you can always rebook if the price goes down further,

With regular CDW some things may not be covered, so check to see if your credit card coverage covers windshield breaks, theft, personal injury protection, and flat tires/road service. If not, you may want to consider some optional coverages.

It sounds fine. Budget are not a dubious company so I wouldn't have any concerns about it. You're travelling in January and booking a car from a major airport where inventory is high, the price reflects that.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. This is helpful, and I'll definitely check out Auto Europe!

We only just started speculating about a trip to Portugal yesterday... if I can get a handle on the actual dates we would be going, I might go ahead and reserve the rental, as suggested...
