I booked travel on Lufthansa from Lisbon to Frankfurt. The flight departs at 520am. Checking the airport website it is recommended arriving 2-3 hours before departure. Anyone know if the check in counter and/or security will even be up and running by then?
If the flight is at 0520 you can bet your bottom dollar they will have security and someone at the check-in counter. Otherwise, how could there be a flight? I'd be there 3 hours early with the uncertainty of flying in general. Best to you, my man.
I figured someone will be at check in desk by departure time. I was wondering if any staff would be there at 3am? And hopefully travel craziness settles down a bit in the next couple of months when I’m traveling.
I just looked at the website. Tomorrow there are 3 flights departing in the 5 am hour and 9 in the 6 am hour from T1. I'd bet that a lot of the duty free shops, cafes, etc. will be open as well.
I had a 6am flight from Lisbon to Madrid a few weeks ago and the airport was definitely up and humming when I arrived at 4am. Since I'd already checked in online, had my digital boarding pass, no checked luggage, and the flight was within the Schengen Zone, I didn't have to do anything but clear security which is why I arrived on the later end. There were already super long lines at the check-in counters at that early hour. I spent the night across the street at the Melia Lisboa Aeroporta hotel, so all I had to do was roll out of bed and walk 5 minutes. Good luck!
We had an 0600 flight out of MAD T2 at the end of May. Being unsure ourselves we arrived at 0300. Lufthansa didn’t open desk til 0400 presumably because it was a Schengen zone flight. Line up started by 0330. No problem with security afterward. Chaos in the departure lounges with multiple lineups for flights leaving at 0600! Good luck!
