Hi. My husband and I are seeking suggestions for accommodations for a three-night visit to Lisbon. We would like to be able to walk to restaurants and feel safe at night. We were considering Baixahouse.com (location: Rua dos Fanqueiros 81) but the street views from Google Maps (dated from 2014 and 2015) show establishments nearby that are boarded up. Is the area safe at night? Any hotel recommendations in a convenient location that have some charm? Thanks!
I stayed at Brown'sBoutique Hotel, just a few blocks away from this property and, though there are some disused buildings in the area, I found it to be both safe and convenient. Easy to get o restaurants, tourist sites, transportation and arick's three city walks. Seems that Baixa House has received a lot of favorable reviews.
We stayed at the Lisboa Plaza Hotel when we visited Lisbon last June and would stay there again. RS tour groups sometimes stay there.
We stayed at Caso do Bairro by Shiadu, which is very centrally located and you can walk everywhere. It's in an old house with lots of charm. We arrived very early and the young owners told us to have breakfast (different tarts and cakes every day) and relax while our room was being prepped. Wine is offered every night and the back yard has a small swimming pool and lemon trees. We loved the location as everything is within walking distance. Very near the b&b is an area with local restaurants, we always felt safe at night, keys to door are given to you at check in. ps we took a food/walking tour which was very interesting.
Barbara, that is fantastic! I found the website for Caso do Bairro, and the place looks beautiful. Is the guesthouse located in a hilly area? I would prefer staying in a flat area. My husband and I love to walk, but we don't want to climb a hill every time we go in and out of our accommodations. Thank you for posting.
