Lisbon Accommodation Needed

Lisbon accommodation looks awfully expensive! I'm looking for accommodation for two right in central Lisbon (Baixa, Alfama, or Bairro Alto):

  • Not a hostel
  • For two people
  • Clean and safe
  • Nothing fancy needed
  • About €100

What do you know of?
Thanks! RON

Check out Hotel Lisboa Plaza. A bit above your upper price limit.

I’ve stayed at Brown’s Boutique in Lisbon and loved it. Large, comfortable room, well-appointed baths, great location, reasonable price. My room had a small kitchenette - don’t know if all rooms have one. .

Thanks very much!

I know there are plenty of quite affordable places on Av da Liberdade (getting better in price/quality ratio as you get further from the river), but that is too far out for me.

I'd seen Brown's Downtown mentioned in other posts (small room for €112) and I've bookmarked it!

Hotel Roma is affordable but it's an hour's walk from the river, right next to the railway tracks, and it looks like a glass and chrome office building.

I suggest looking in the area around the Principe Real. Quiet and close to a lot of interesting places. We have stayed in that area twice. BTW, Lisbon in lockdown...again.

Look at a nice one bed room apartment with views at visitinglisbon.com. We spent ten perfect days there. It is near Rossio Square, restaurants, just up the hill.

Thanks, dkgibbons! Some interesting places there, e.g., I spotted a small, clean apartment at the DoBairrosuites at Bairro Alto, newly renovated, for €70. Just need to peck around for a while in Google Maps.

Thanks to you, too, Suki! Unfortunately, the visitinglisbon.com website doesn't work anymore...

Ron-
We enjoyed staying at the Lisboa Plaza Hotel. We were there on the RS Portugal Tour. That said I am not familiar with their pricing.

Although we have not stayed at My Story Hotel Augusta, a friend was there a few years ago and raved about it. Others on this forum have given it high recommendations. Good location as well.

One of the perks of Portugal is that it’s very affordable. Enjoy your planning!

Thank Janis! Re: Lisboa Plaza, I'm not into being up on the Av da Liberdade. I've bookmarked My Story Charming Hotel Augusta. Right in the middle of the Baixa - nice location, and only slightly over what I hoped to pay - about €118 if you make a non-refundable booking. RON

Ron, you could walk an hour to the river or you could take the readily accessible public transportation....

I am glad that you are getting several ideas and that you are able to to distinguish which ones fit your criteria best. Everyone has their own likes and dislikes. I hope you have a wonderful trip.

Ron, I am looking at the My Story hotels as well and see there are 3 other locations aside from Augusta. Did you consider those locations? Could you message me or report here how it was--when are you traveling? We are not traveling until May, but I am trying to get refundable reservations made. Am also considering Brown's Central Hotel.

Anyone have any experience with the My Story hotels in Lisbon? I just want to make sure we're in a great location for walking, have a comfy bed and reasonably sized bathroom! Trying to stay at or below $200 USD/nite. While I've heard so much about Portugal being reasonably priced, I found the hotels just a bit more than I expected. Thanks to all!
