Rick's "Portugal", p 21, says that the LisboaCard is unnecessary for seniors. Can someone clarify for me- can we just use public transport for free, based on the fact that we are seniors, regardless of not being locals? How does that play out?
He's not recommending it as a good value for seniors, "for whom most sights are free or half price." This book is written for American travelers, so it's already confirmed that you qualify for the discounts mentioned; see https://gulbenkian.pt/museu/en/information/tickets/, for instance.
You would still want a separate Viva Viagem Card (p. 28) for local public transport.
Thanks for the clarification, Laura. It is the public transport pass that I was looking for- so thanks for pointing to the Via Viagem card.
