Lisboacard

My husband and I will be in Lisbon for 4 days in October 2023, and are considering getting the Lisboacard for several reasons: it covers all the museums and sights we are interested in visiting as well as public transportation, and discounts on river cruises. However in reading further in the RS guidebook it also says the card is "unnecessary if your'e a student or senior, for whom most sights are free or half-price." We are seniors. Does anyone who is a senior have experience with this? Does it apply to public transportation? Is there a way we can find out before we arrive in Lisbon? Thanks!

There is a senior discount on museums but not on public transport. The general thinking I’ve always heard is to get a via Viagem card for public transport and (as a senior) not worry about museums because they are fairly inexpensive. The via Viagem card is good on all buses, metro and ferries.

Thank you, Kathryn! I have heard of the Viva Viagrem card and have not investigated that further. We will definitely get that.
