I'm flying into LIS and my hotel is near Saldanha (Metro Red & Yellow) and Google is showing me several buses from the airport that will get me there for about the same time and walking distance. So after getting my Navegante around 8-8:30 on a weeknight, should I take the bus or metro? I'm thinking of the bus having an advantage of less stairs/escalators than the metro. Does that make sense in Lisbon?

Im at my relatives’, less than 100 mts from the Praça Duque de Saldanha.
I flew here from Italy on Saturday and the taxi ride cost me 10€. Uber might have been a bit less. It’s really only 10 min drive from the airport. It might be a bit more at night, but why subject yourself to the hassle of buses or metro after a long flight and probably with luggage, when the taxi or uber fare is not that expensive?
If you must absolutely save that money then you can take the Metro Red to São Sebastião and get off at Saldanha, the stop before São Sebastião.
Just to let you know, Uber is very inexpensive in Portugal, so unless you are really on a tight budget, don’t be afraid to use it.

Thanks Roberto. I guess before I take a taxi/rideshare I could go into the Metro to buy the Navegante and load a 24-hour ticket in case my first ride the next day is a bus?

Metro Red line goes right to yr location, but if u have luggage u may want to spend for taxi...Ubers generally are in taxi are, look for them near the drop off area of the airport.

Reporting back: I was staying at Doubletree. On arrival, I saw Bolt's promotion code for new customers valid for 1st ride in Portugal--70% off, so I downloaded the app and became a new customer, and it proved useful later in Spain where Uber did not serve the town I went to see the eclipse. The ride from LIS to Doubletree was quoted less than 10 EUR so it ended up being less than 3 EUR.
On later days I used the Metro Red Line to Saldanha and seeked out the elevators on purpose to get onto the street. It was a very long walk and 3 elevator rides (Red to Yellow, then to fare gates, then to street). Of course the whole Metro system was uncomfortably hot when compared to outside temperatures morning and evening.
So I decided against the Metro for my early Sunday morning trip back to the airport. There were 3 buses a block walk from the hotel and I caught one with a short wait, and my day ticket from Saturday afternoon hadn't expired. The bus was uncrowded and without traffic it was easy for the occasion.

Go for a rideshare or taxi. That's what I wish I'd done on arrival. I learned quickly to use Uber (Bolt wasn't there yet) and taxis.
