We will be going on Rick’s September 25 Portugal tour and were wondering what opportunities we would have to do some laundry during the course of the tour. On other tours we have done some hand laundry in our hotel rooms, but there have also been some instances where there has been a nearby laundromat. Does anyone have experience with this on the Portugal tour?

Look up laundromats in the towns the tour will be going to and bookmark their locations on a maps program. Our our trip, not a tour, we did laundry in Coimbra and Porto.

I will echo Jaime’s response about checking maps but also with the RS tour folk on timing of laundry. I also did my laundry (solo independent trip)inCoimbra. I found a great laundromat a few doors down from a fabulous cafe called Biquinha on a side street near the train station. It was wonderful enjoying cafe con leite and pasteis de nata at this little cafe while getting the chore done. Sorry, I don’t remember the name of the laundry place. Be aware that the price of the wash INCLUDED soap, automatically dispensed in the cycle.

Believe Linda is referring to Lavandaria da Baixa. That’s where we did laundry. It’s a couple doors down from Padaria Biquinha. It is small with only a couple washers and dryers.
Its address is: R. das Padeiras 72 R/C Direito.

As noted, your guide will be best source but Rick’s guidebooks normally have laundries listed under the “Helpful Hints” section for each city.
