I am a traveler that prefers to arrive with tickets in hand. I am struggling to find tickets on the official site for the Jeronimos Monastery in Belem. Do I have to purchase from a third party like GetYourGuide? If so, their site does not specify a timed entry. Does that sound correct? Thank you in advance!
When I bought my ticket in October, 2022 (online, the night prior) it said 9:30am on the ticket, but you could enter whenever you wish on the date:
https://bilheteira.patrimoniocultural.pt/pos/event/list
The website clearly shows how many tickets remain for each day, so you can gauge how far in advance you'd want to buy your ticket.
Those who didn't arrive with a ticket in hand had to walk to the far end of the building to buy theirs. (Perhaps they still could have bought a ticket online, I'm not sure.)
Those with tickets, lined up for entrance. I arrived before 930 and was about 10th in line. (There were 2 tour groups who arrived and who get priority entrance, ahead of those with individual tickets.) By 1015, there was a long line for those with tickets. When I left at 1048, there were hundreds of people in line for both the monastery and the north church - waiting in the sun.
Another option, that I think I’m going to use for my March trip, is the Lisbon card.
https://www.visitlisboa.com/en/p/lisboa-card
That will get you into the Monastery with no need for a time specific ticket.
You can purchase the card online, but you still have to pick up the physical card once there. I’m not seeing that there is an electronic version of the card. So, I think it makes sense to just buy it there.
Trotter's reply with link to website does not include anything about Jeronimos Monastery. Please advise if I'm missing something. We too are interested in pre-purchased tickets but are not having any luck online without going through a third party.
Here’s the official website for booking tickets:
https://bilheteira.museusemonumentos.pt/pos/session/list
It looks like one needs to choose a timed entry.
The website clearly states the following:
ADMISSION
From September 30th visits to Mosteiro dos Jerónimos require date and time booking.
On days that not require date and time booking, the time indicated on the ticket corresponds to the opening time of the ticket office.
My daughter and I visited Portugal in the Spring of 2019 and didn’t book tickets in advance for this monument (we actually visited in the late afternoon @ around 4pm) but things have changed since then.
I just did a dummy booking and got all the way to the payment part, here are the details:
Choose your desired date by clicking on the calendar
then click on the desired time (these populate above the calendar)
Enter quantity of tickets, then click, “continue”(green bar with small arrow)
Confirm date, number of tickets, then click on “continue” (green bar with small arrow)
Fill contact information: email, phone number without spaces or parentheses, then click on bar above phone # [“Portugal vs Foreign” & choose your country- USA], then click, “confirm” (green bar)
For Payment, click on icon showing the various credit cards.
Then you’ll be routed to a secure payment website [Reduniq] where you’ll enter your credit card information, then click on the blue bar that reads; “Pagar com cartão” (pay with card)
Hope this helps!
PS: I entered a dummy phone number,
without spaces or parentheses, like this:
+15554566799
Please come back and let us know if you were successful in booking your tickets.
Jeffrey, you are right, I goofed. I've deleted my post.
