Jeronimos Monastery

My husband and I will be in Lisbon on 17, 18 and 19 May, and I am having difficulty buying tickets to the Jeronimos Monastery online. The monastery website directs you to patrimonialcultural.gov.pt, which has a menu that drops down to 'services' and from there to 'online ticket office' - which in turn takes you to bilheteira.culturanorte.gov.pt - which offers tickets to lots of monasteries - but not the Jeronimos Monastery (??)

Beyond that, I find numerous third parties offering tickets: GetYourGuide (offering 'skip-the-line tickets', which I have read on this forum are a scam - you don't skip the line at all), Lisbon.net (Civitatis Lisbon), jeronimosmonasterytickets.com - and on and on.

How do I get tickets to see the monastery?

And for fear of hours and hours of waiting in line, is it best to go with a tour? (Preferably a small tour.) And if so, can anyone recommend one of those?

Thank you for your suggestions!

I went in March and just purchased a Lisbon card from one of the tourist offices ahead of time. That works in place of a ticket. I was in line 35 minutes before the Monastery opened and was first in line.

I suggest going early. I see no need for a tour.

It's answered elsewhere in the forum, next time search here first; there's a lot of
embedded knowledge if you know where to look....

@Bill that’s a brilliant idea. Unfortunately jerimonostours is sold out for September when we’re there, although there is availability in August and October in case others are looking.`

We went today (Sept 7), a Saturday. Tickets are available across the street at a mirrored kiosk in the garden, not at the archaeological museum as the guidebook says. Got tickets right away and then waited in line approximately 35 minutes to get in.

Tried the online purchase without success. Has been the norm for Portugal.
