Itinerary Help for Portugal

We have 26 nights to spend in Portugal this fall and trying to narrow down the itinerary. I would prefer to take trains for the long distance between Coimbra and Lagos rather than drive. It seems that it is difficult to get to Evora from Coimbra by train and then on to Lagos. I moved Evora to our return to Lisbon since there is a direct train from Lisbon. Any thoughts on this?

Porto 3 days - Pickup Car
Douro 3 days - Drop car
Coimbra 1 day - trying to decide whether to skip this 1 day visit just to see the library and take the direct train to Faro?
Lagos 5
- flight out of Faro
Azores 5
- flight back to Lisbon
Evora 3
Cascais 2
Lisbon 4

I’d keep Coimbra. One day is enough to see the university, library, and historic center, and it breaks up the trip nicely between the Douro and the Algarve.
For your route, I think moving Évora to after the Azores makes sense. The train connections from Coimbra to Évora are not very convenient, while Lisbon to Évora is easy and direct.
One suggestion: consider taking one night from Lagos and adding it to Lisbon. Five nights in Lagos is quite a lot unless you're planning several Algarve day trips or just to lay on the beaches.
Otherwise, with 26 nights, this looks like a very relaxed itinerary with plenty of time to enjoy each place instead of constantly moving around. Portugal rewards slow travel.
