Is Lagos Worth Visiting One-Day?

I'm taking a Portugal tour in early November 2026 and then going home to Canada. I plan to spend additional time in Lisbon after the Portugal tour concludes to take a one-day trip to Lagos. Is Lagos worth visiting? I have not gotten my air booking yet.

Your advice is much appreciated!

I would not go all the way to Lagos for one day. If you take the train, it would be 8 hours total travel time. And, to see the rock formations would require an uber or taxi from the train station. If you extend a few days, then possibly. However, there are lovely beaches closer to Lisbon, if you need a beach fix. Admittedly, without the rock formations.

Lagos is very much worth a visit (we spent 4 nights there in March), but it's a long way from Lisbon (3 hour or so car ride) and that makes it tough for a single-day visit. I think there are areas much closer to Lisbon where you can enjoy some beach time and/or smaller town fun (e.g., Cascais, Praia do Creiro) within an hour or so of central Lisbon.
