Immigration legal advice

Having run into a bureaucratic wall attempting to obtaining a year visa before entering the country, we traveled anyway. We now need to get definitive advice as to our options and have decided a legal professional is our best option.

Looking to a recommendation for an immigration attorney, preferably in the Algarve.

Thanks!

If you are already in country, contact the nearest US consulate or the embassy for a reference. Are you planning to immigrate to Portugal? From you earlier postings assume you did not receive the long term visa for Portugal? What was the reason for denial? It may be difficult to obtain a long term visa once you are in the Portugal. If the situation was reversed in the US, you could not obtain a visa once in the US. You have to apply from home. You may not be able to bull your way through this situation.

Willi,

AFAIK, you normally have to apply for a long-term stay Visa from outside the country. As you're already there, that's not an option. You may have to return home once your 90 days have elapsed, and try again. You should be able to apply at any E.U. Embassy for a stay anywhere in the E.U., and France seems to be a popular one.

It's not likely any in the group here will be able to provide much information on that. If you're staying in a hotel, ask the hotel staff if they can put you in touch with a local attorney.
