Ideas for a seaside town north of Lisbon - doesn't need swimable beach!

My husband and I have lived our entire lives on the west coast of Canada and our favorite European towns are on the coast. (think Cadiz, Sorrento, Cefalu) We don't consider ourselves beach people, but we love seaside walks, eating with the locals with sea views and the sights and sounds of bustling harbours. Can anyone recommend a smaller town on the west coast of Portugal, north of Lisbon for us to consider? Again, doesn't need a "beach" for swimming. We will be travelling in September, and will likely have a car. Thank you!

There are a number, as you might have surmised. Cascais is the first town truly on the sea rather than the river. Ericeira, Foz, Peniche, São Martinho do Porto (really on a lovely bay), and Nazaré come to mind. You might want to research these to start and see what looks good.
