What I need is input on what would be the most cost effective in places to stay and to travel from point to point. Right now, I am considering in stay in Lisbon, Porto, Coimbra, and Sintra. I am of Portuguese ancestry and coming back to learn about my roots. Thanks for your advice,

Hi there, I guess you can share the budget you have for this kind of trip so anyone can advise better. Why not Algarve Coast? Duoro Valley?

The most cost effective places are generally hostels.
In the winter, you can get cheaper rates for accommodation, but the weather isn’t as good. Car hire is also cheap in the winter, but you won’t need a car in Lisbon or Porto.
Coastal places in the summer are more expensive, particularly those with sea views.

I hope to go to Portugal in September and was hoping to spend a week in Porto, Lisbon, Coimbra, and Sintra. I am planning on a budget of $10k which includes my airfare from Hawaii, Thanks.
