Hi. Just wondering if anyone has experience or knowledge about how to get temporary residency in Portugal. We’ve looked online, but unfortunately, most of the information appears to be either vague or too complicated to negotiate. Any suggestions (or links) on how we could start the process would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

The very best resource is Americans and Friends in Portugal Facebook page. They have extensive files including step by step instructions. Seven years ago, I used the article “Demystifying the Paper Trail Portugal” on Expat Exchange by Susan Korthase. Susan started the Facebook page and it’s more up to date.
It’s become more difficult in the last seven years but is still very doable with these resources. It still requires reading the info many times and taking it a step at a time. But, it’s so worth it!
