I plan fly into Faro - see The Algarve and then take a train to Lisbon - from where I will fly home. However, when I go on > https://www.cp.pt/passageiros/en - it wants to know my return date back to Faro. Why do they assume that I want to make a return? Why can’t they come up with a one way ticket only?

James, the usual procedure is simply to leave the Return Date block blank. That works for me on the CP website. I'm using Internet Explorer on a desktop computer. I know sometimes websites work differently on other types of computers and with other browsers.

I just purchased tickets from the site a couple of days ago and as acraven says you just leave the return date blank. After you select your tickets, it does ask again if you want to purchase return tickets and you just hit continue. I had to set up an account but it was pretty simple and yea, my credit card was accepted. Hope this helps.
