How early should we get to the Lisbon Airport before our Transatlantic flight home?

We left our AirBnB 3 hours out, arriving at the airport 2.5 hours out, and had plenty of time to kill. We'll be back in Lisbon this October too and will follow that same timing!

Thanks, I was nervous. Our exit out of Milan's airport ( a few years ago) was so disorganized. We had an early morning flight out but the airport was understaffed. We were biting our nails about Lisbon.

I like to give myself 3.5 - 4 hours. I never want to be in a situation where I’m stressed about traffic or long lines.

I fly back to the U.S. at least once a year and give myself 3 hours for transatlantic flights. As mentioned, Lisbon isn’t the most straightforward airport.

Also, you might want to watch any notices about the EES system that Europe has been attempting to implement. It requires biometrics from non - EU residents. Most of the airports have struggled implementing it, to the point of stopping it for the high tourist season. Lisbon has been one of those that really struggled. So, if they decide to put it back in place, you may need even more than three hours. If you google EES Europe, you should be able to find any news coming out about starting it up again.
