I am planning to go to Portugal at the end of the summer/early fall. I would like to rent a small house/cottage in a town with things to do and see.
Does anyone have any suggestions regarding a good real estate rental agency and/or a place to visit other than Lisbon?

In Lisbon, Rick suggests www.cross-pollinate.com to find apartments, and perhaps some cottages will also be listed.

We have had good luck in Europe and US with rentals through VRBO, (Vacation Rental by Owner). They rent houses and apartments all over the world. Some are with private owner and some are handled through a rental agency. We have rented apartments in Barcelona, Madrid, Paris, and a house last summer in North Carolina. We are currently looking at places in Portugal and have found many good choices for both apartments and houses. Not sure what you mean exactly by a cottage, but I'm sure a small house is a possibility.
