Do hotels in Europe have daily room service like here in the US? A friend and I are planning a trip to Lisbon, Madrid, Barcelona and Rome later on this year.
Neither of us has been to Europe before!
In this country I always cancel this service as I'm an older guy and I like to be able to go back to my room for a rest whenever I feel like it without having to wait until the room is ready!
We're not staying at very expensive places - around $100.00 a night for each room if we can find quiet hotels close to city centers for that price.
One big question - we are going in September, 2015, so how soon do we have to book our hotel rooms and airfares to and from Europe and also between those cities I mentioned.
Thank you for any help that you can give us. James
Every hotel that I've stayed at in Europe (Germany, France, Italy, Switzerland, etc.) has daily room cleaning--fresh linens, dusting and vacuuming, bathroom cleaning.
If I were planning a trip for September, I would book everything as soon as possible. It's good for your peace of mind to know that everything is all set, or mostly set..
I wouldn't bother with trying to reserve travel between the cities while you are there, but that's just my opinion. I prefer to buy point to point tickets at the RR stations.
The hotel rooms are invariably made up by the housekeeping staff in the mornings. I doubt that will interfere with you returning to the room for a rest, unless you usually have a morning nap.
Thank you to those nice people who replied to my question both on this forum and also by private emails. I appreciate your help and we will go ahead with booking the main flights to Lisbon - returning from Rome. That will be a good start.
Thanks again. James
