Hotel information for Lisbon & Porto Portugal

Looking for a hotel in Lisbon & Porto for late May/early June 2026. I’ll only be in each of these places for 2-3 days so would prefer staying close to shops and restaurants etc. I would prefer a place that an uber or taxi could drop us off in front of so we don’t have to lug our suitcases up a hill or steps. Thanks in advance for your responses.

If you’re looking for central hotels with easy access (flat entry, no tricky stairs) and close to restaurants and shops, here are some good options:

Lisbon

  • Hotel Avenida Palace – Classic, elegant, right at the end of Avenida da Liberdade and next to Rossio. Taxis/Ubers can drop you off at the front door. Excellent location for walking to Baixa and Chiado.

  • Hotel Portugal – A smaller 4-star near Rossio Square, comfortable rooms, and very walkable area. Easy drop-off right at the entrance.

  • Moxy Lisbon City – More modern, casual style, close to Avenida da Liberdade. Great rooftop pool and convenient for taxis.

Porto

  • InterContinental Porto – Palácio das Cardosas – In the main square (Avenida dos Aliados), beautiful historic building, with restaurants and shops all around. Taxis can stop directly at the door.

  • Hotel Carrís Porto Ribeira – In the Ribeira area, close to the river but still accessible by car. Very lively neighborhood with restaurants right outside.

  • Moov Hotel Porto Centro – Budget-friendly but stylish, near Aliados and Bolhão. Excellent location, taxis can drop off in front.

Both cities have some areas with steep streets and steps, so staying near Rossio in Lisbon and Aliados in Porto usually makes transport and walking much easier.

In Lisbon the MEMO Hotel is great - good location and river views from rooms/lounge/pool deck

The InPatio Guesthouse in Porto, located downtown, not far from the river is the most fantastic B&B that we have ever stayed in.
It fills up quickly, so book asap.

Another vote for Avenida Palace in Lisbon and In Patio Guesthouse in Porto. Both are in great locations, and both have fantastic, but very different breakfasts.
