Hotel for One Night in Lisbon - need help

Ok, so I thought it'd be cool to book a night night stopover in Lisbon on the way back from BCN... (Now I'm regretting due to logistics but too expensive to change). Arriving 14:00 and departing 10:00 next morning. Would you stay at an airport hotel, check in and walk around the city and get dinner and head back to airport hotel --- or get a hotel in town? If so, preferably right near a Metro. Any help appreciated.

I'm currently planning a trip to Portugal. Have you looked in the Rick Steves guide? I'm always happy with the places I've selected from the guide. I've been researching transportation options because I'm going to several cities in Portugal. What I know from several sources, is that the Lisbon metro system is excellent and there is a line right to the airport. I would stay in the city.

I have posted a few questions for Portugal recently, and wasn't getting a lot of response. So, FYI, there is a fairly active facebook group, "Travel Portugal" that may be helpful to you.

I would stay at Lisboa PLaza Hotel, a RS recommended hotel. It is practically across from the metro line (which you can take from the airport to the city). There is A Gina restaurant right behind the hotel, they have a fabulous breakfast included, and you can easily walk the Liberdade Boulevard.
Get the RS Guidebook for sites in the city.

I love Lisbon, first went on a RS tour, then have returned 4 times. Never get tired of Lisbon.

Enjoy!

Having been to Lisbon twice, I'd observe that taxis are cheaper than some other cities, and they have a large, busy airport. It's entirely practical to get a cab to the airport at 6AM in almost any big city. This is particularly so if you are staying in a real hotel (I mean, not a room-share of some kind.)

I also agree that the decision to do a one-night stopover was not a good plan. Lisbon is not as well-connected to Spain as you would think it might be.

I use booking.com to both do research and sometimes book.

I found a hotel in the center of Lisbon through booking but I am staying several nights.

You might get some good ideas using booking

Jules M in MN. I suggest you try booking.com for some of the places where you are looking for hotels. It is good for doing just research but you can also book through them.
