Holy Week 2026 Planning need assistance

Hi All -

We are planning for now to stay in Braga for Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday then go to Porto for Sat, spend Eaters Sunday there and a few more days. Wondering if best to stay in Braga or to stay in Porto and travel there for processions and back to Porto. Thinking of packing and unpacking. Has anyone been to Braga or otherr towns there during holy week? Suggestions

We have been to Braga during Easter, it gets very busy and crowded, recommend that you book your accommodation early.

We stayed in Braga but both locations are fine, there's more accommodation in Porto but it's nice to relax in the evening without having to rush for the train.

It will be crowded, as most of Portugal is during Holy Week. However, be sure to check if there are processions during the week. Portugal is quite different from Spain and has far fewer ‘semana santa’ processions and parades. I like Braga. It’s a nice size town with plenty of restaurants, etc. but not as busy as Porto and you get to escape the hills!
