Help with Comboios de Portugal (train) website please

Hi all,
I thought it would be a good idea to pre-purchase my train tickets (especially with all the credit card denial talk) and print them before I leave next Friday, but the dang train website has me so confused! I can't find an explanation in English even though the website is in English, my Portuguese is that of a two-year old, and whenever I try to chat online or send an email through their site it locks my whole computer up and I have to re-boot. Here is the website and the problem:

Comboios

If I search the timetables for a train from Lisbon (Santa Apoloinia) to Porto (Sao Bento) I get 16 choices. When I do the same search from purchase tickets, only 2 out of 16 have a button next to them that I can click on for purchase. Does this mean that
A) only 2 trains are actually running that particular day, B) all trains running but only 2 trains still have seats left, or C) only 2 trains are available for advance purchase, and the rest would be available for purchase if I were physically at the station to do it?
If anyone can solve this mystery I would greatly appreciate it. I will be travelling with my 78 year old aunt, and would like to be as prepared as I can. Thank you for any insight!
Jen

I was going to send you to the Captain Train website for simple ticket purchasing, but that website won't show me tickets for trains in Portugal. I haven't traveled in Portugal so I can't speak to walk-up train prices. I can see, using Rail Europe, which I don't tend to like as they mark up ticket prices (sometimes a lot and sometimes just a little) that there are trains quite often....about 3 trains every 2 hours. No matter what dates I put into the system, the tickets are 33 dollars each and the ride time is 2 hours and 43 minutes. Pricing is the same for trains tomorrow, next week and next month.
What price are you seeing on the Comboios website? I

I am not so concerned about prices as I am about availability...
Lisbon to Porto costs about 24-30 Eur.
I want to leave around 9:30 am - but the site will only let me purchase an 11:30 am train or a 3:30 pm ticket, even there are 16 different trains running that day.

I looked at the website and I see one potential fix. Change your arrival station to Porto Campanha station. It's close to the station you're using...you'd have to probably cab to your hotel, but when I change to that station, it seems like I am able to buy tickets for almost any departure.

Otherwise, if that doesn't work, you can definitely buy on Rail Europe at $33. Unfortunately, tickets for those trains show as "mail paper ticket" only, so you'd end up paying $18 for UPS shipping.

Oh - holy cow - that worked!

- sigh of relief -

Thank you so much... I have an actual tear in my eye. I am that relieved!

One more question, please. If I pre-purchase my tickets from home (LIS-porto, porto-coimbra, Coimbra-LIS) do I still need to buy the Vive Viagem card or will the machines just scan my paper tickets and let me through?
