Help! Douro Valley via train

Hiya,
My husband and I are in Porto.
Wanting to do the train from Porto to the Douro Valley. We want to go to a winery (or two) in Pinhao for tasting.
Then go back to Porto. Hoping for the train again.

Any help or suggestions appreciated!
We thank you in advance.

I can’t speak to the train from Porto to the Douro Valley, but I can recommend a winery that our RS Tour stopped at for lunch & wine tasting/tour. They offered many options as well as their great olive oils. This was on our way to Porto. Enjoy your stay!

We went one way by boat, returned the other way by train, a nice way to mix it up.

There is a direct train from the Porto Campanha station to Pinhao (2h 15m).

I ended up taking an organized small group in a van day tour of Duoro from Porto but before travel I had looked into taking the train to Pinhao. I kept the following in my notes but I don't have a record of the source.
I read that you can walk to 3 vineyards from Pinhao (2 were basically in town and the other is a 10 minute walk). They are Real Companhia Velha (which offers an open top van ride through their vineyards before a tasting), Quinta do Bomfim and Quinta de la Rosa. There are other vineyards to visit within a few miles of Pinhao. There are taxis at the train station. Contacting vineyards you want to visit in advance to make reservations was strongly suggested.

Elsewhere I had read that the Quntas closest to Pinhao were more commercial than some of the smaller family run vineyards that require a car or a day tour to visit. If I remember, the RS book describes a number of Quintas and how to contact them. Hope this helps.

We did a Douro river cruise for a week, it was super. I noticed that there are train tracks along the northern bank of the river.
