My husband & I would like to take the above tour June or September 2018. We would like to extend our stay in Portugal for 5-7 days after the tour which ends in Porto. We would appreciate suggestions and ideas from any of you who have done this tour and have perhaps stayed in a small town or village on the coast near Porto afterwards --- or??? We are open to any suggestions.

I don't know where you visit on the tour, but there are a number of places in northern Portugal that are worth seeing. Guimarães, Braga or one of the towns in the Douro valley immediately come to mind. If you want to rent a car, in 5-7 days, you could see a number of places along the coast. Since RS doesn't cover nearly all of Portugal, you might want to look at a Lonely Planet or other guide book to see what interests you. Julie Dawn Fox has a great website with lots of lesser known places in Portugal.
Both June and September are busy in the bigger tourist areas, so booking several months ahead is advisable.

Kathryn - thank you, I appreciate your suggestions and will also look into that website. I don't think my husband will want to drive though - we have been on several RS tours and he now enjoys leaving the driving to someone else!
