We are planning a trip to Spain and Portugal and I found what looks to be a great place on Cross-Pollinate. I have Googled Cross-Pollinate and haven't found much information, just want to make sure it is safe to use (give credit card to). Any info would be appreciated. Also, if anyone has stayed in a clean, decent place in Lisbon and Porto I would love recommendations. I looked at all of Rick's suggestions, they were either too expensive (anything over $130 a day) or have shared bathrooms.

I used them but many years ago, in Italy. No issues. I had a cancellation once or twice and had no problem with that either. The places I booked were all good or at least as advertised. I loved the little apartment in Venice I booked through them so much that I stayed at the same place two years later.
Even though it's been a long time, I'd use them again in a hearbeat.
First heard about them through Rick Steves FYI. Not sure if he still recommends them or not.
Some properties they advertise also advertise on other booking sites, so if you are looking for outside reviews of specific places, you might find them.
Have you looked on Booking.com? It's a big corporate site but I have used it many times over the years. I book directly with a property when I can but often Booking.com is the most convenient.
