Handicap placard

am putting this question in several countries forums, as we are not sure yet of the destination, and the answer may be different in different areas.
We are seniors in New Jersey, who have handicap placards in our car,so that we can park in designated spaces.

If we were to rent a car in Lisbon, and drive to either Sintra,Cascais or Obidos, would our placard be acceptable to park in handicap spaces in those areas
Thank you

I typed this into Google and here is what it said:

Officially, Portugal does not have a formal reciprocity agreement with
the United States to legally recognize US handicap placards. Only
EU-standard Blue Badges and certain ECMT (European Conference of
Ministers of Transport) permits are guaranteed legal status by
Portuguese authorities like the IMT.

That said, why do you even want to rent a car? Can't you just use public transportation?

For Obidos, train schedule seems cumbersome, and my wife has issues with getting on a bus.
For others, she basically asked ne to look into car rentals, only for day trips, and this is part of the research.
We walk slowly with canes, and she would like flexibility

ngl you should be fine. Portugal accepts UK and US placards generally. Just put it on the dash. Some towns have different rules but you'll be okay.
