Looking for a recommendation for a half day tour in Porto. Going at the end of April.
We did various free tours. I would recommend, but did not get to do, one of the Culinary Backstreets tours in Porto. There were two offered during December 2024.
We took at half day tour from Portoalities: https://portoalities.com/en/ this past September. The owner Sara is a local and has wonderful YouTube videos that we used to help plan our trip. We took the introductory tour that took us from the Cathedral to the Clérigos Tower. Our guide was a graduate student in history who lived and went to school in Porto. What I loved about the tour is we were able to visit the main sites while taking little detours to little known churches, eateries, and alleyways. We were there at the beginning of the school term, so our guide was able to get us context for the performances and signs of the students. We started our trip in Porto and taking a tour from someone so well versed in history provided so much context for the rest of our visit across Portugal.
Hi Barbara, the Portoalities recommendation is a great one! The best thing to do for a half-day Tour in Porto is definitely walking. And if you wish to mix culture and gastronomy, Cooltour Oporto offers the best option for small groups (up to 8 people), in my opinion. You can see it at https://cooltouroporto.com/tours/oporto-food-tour ; you'll eat well, you'll have fun, and you'll get to know Porto's history, culture and atmosphere. Porto Walkers can also be a great alternative with cheaper tours. I recommend you to visit a wine cellar by your own - don't include it in the tour because it will be more relaxed and you'll not waste time in the tour - nevertheless, the really best wine cellar is Graham's, and it is quite far, compared to Calem or Sandeman. I hope you enjoy your time in Porto!
