I have another question: are there tours available from Lisbon to Fatima only? The reason I want Fatima only is that I am on a hiking trip that will visit other sites but not Fatima. Thanks.
Hello from Wisconsin,
Let me start by stating, I am not a Catholic so Fatima is not the big thing it may be for others.
If you think it will be a small chapel in the green hills where the kids were taking care of sheep, think again. It is now a massive paved square and I mean massive, it has a church that seats 9000, and a burning pit a lot like a very large BBQ grill where you can set candles in the shape of the part of your body you want healed. The spot where the kids had the visitation is now a glassed in chapel.
My wife, an ex-Catholic, was much distressed at the commercialism.
But, I wanted to see it. She wanted to see it. So we did. No need to go back.

Did you join a tour? I expected as much as I know throngs of people go. That's why I only want a very short or half day tour. I will be on a hiking trip so I will see the other places like Obidos, etc.
Thank you!
